Traditional with a Twist.

Traditional with a twist is a project that has stemmed from the original 'Equine Project'. When I first started the equine project I had loads of people interested in having the shoots done, but as it came to the time for getting the shoots done, half the people weren't interested no more. So .. instead of giving up, I put my foot down! I asked around to see if there was anyone who was 100% committed to the project as I was, to be able to work something out of it, to have some final photographs, enough for a book and as a collection that would still be mind blowing for whoever viewed them. This is where Traditional with a Twist came from!

My friend Lowri Fleming has 4 shires, some of which are ridden. They are show shires therefore she has all the flights etc to make the project theme work. The main idea is to take something very traditional, something that a person could only ever imagine it in one or two ways, i.e shire horses are either seen dressed up to the nines in the show ring or they are known for being work horses on the farm...my plan is to mix that all up and break all the rules!

We spent a couple of days just messing around and playing with props and landscapes that we had at our disposal to try and see what we could produce as a baseline, and to see what was possible and what wasn't. The first images also seemed to work great as story boards.

The project does seem to be working really well so far, and if all goes well and more ideas progress each project that has come from the equine project can be used as 'chapters' for the book. We shall see...

BIG thank you to Lowri Fleming for enjoying this as much as me and letting me use her lovely horses!

Here are some of the shots so far.... :)
